  This past weekend I visited Tiramisu, not once but TWICE.
  
  It had been a while since I had been to this cafe, and I forgot how good it was. On Saturday, I went with some family members. We ordered tibs and vegetarian fir fir. It was fresh and delicious. Then I ordered a soy latte and tiramisu for dessert. I left full and happy.
  
  On Sunday, I was craving their dessert so I returned with a friend. We ordered lattes as well as the tiramisu and napoleon. The cozy atmosphere is also an added bonus. We sat in this cafe, sipping our coffee, and got lost in conversation and people watching.
  
  I'll be back again soon. Next time, I'll be trying the rum cake.

  This place has an employee that can't count.  The lady gives me my change and I count it.  As I was walking away, I said to the person I was with that she shorted me 6 cents.  The lady heard me and she said oh let me give you a nickel.  I never got my 6 cents or a nickle
  
  I figure if you're struggling/hesitate to hand out 6 cents it might be best if you keep it.
  
  Oh and the tiramisu is good but the Italian rum cake was lacking flavor.  I also didn't like the flies in the restaurant.  I might give it another chance

  Pros: Cakes are amazing
  Cons: Unclean utensils, rocky furniture, poor lighting, customer service
  
  If there is ever that sudden urge for something sweet to satisfy your sweet tooth, you have to find this cake shop on the border of Silver Spring and DC. The wide section of cakes is amazing, I tried the "Italian Rum" and the "Fasting Tiramisu," both of which were fantastic and a perfect match to my cake preferences. The "Italian Rum" was very fluffy and mildly sweet. I am not a huge fan of overly sweet desserts, I prefer something lightly sweetened or coupled with something sour (berries, glaze, etc.). "Fasting Tiramisu", on the other hand, was sweet, but once again not overly sweet, also very soft and delicious. However, the last one did not look very fresh, luckily I did not have any digestive system complications and the taste was not any "funny."
  
  As far as the Cons go I did not like the atmosphere and the look of the place. I do not need a 3-4 "$" restaurant to feel comfortable and enjoy my food but when the place looks under-maintained and unclean I do not feel at ease. The first pointer goes to the spoons that accompanied cups of coffee. The spoons were clearly dirty and I had to get up and get coffee stirrers from the counter. The second pointer goes to the place itself, the floors, walls, lighting all looked old and ugly. Everything inside spoke to me as "old and ugly." The tables were not stable and you could barely sit at the high-top table without spilling your coffee all over the place. The lights were dark even during daytime, and no it was not the "dark/cool vibe" this place was giving.
  
  The last pointer goes to the customer service. When a person comes into a store that serves perfectly baked cakes you expect to get the same level of customer service. While it took me about 5-10 minutes to get any attention from the server at the register, she was not polite, friendly or welcoming in any way. The lady was very busy processing payment of the person before me and never acknowledged that I was standing right in front of her. The only thing I wish she said was: "Hello, glad to see you at our place, we are experiencing some difficulties and I will be with you shortly" (with a smile on her face). After she was done with the register she looked at me and said: "What do you want?" While I understood that she was a foreigner (so am I), after working for at least a short amount of time in customer service she must've seen other people serve and also must have experienced it herself in other places.
  
  One small thing to be aware of. To the left of the building is another business and everytime someone comes in the door slams and it resonates to this cafe. It may bother you and irritate you at first. I came to this realization pretty quickly and simply got used to the noise. It is in no way fault of the owner but it would be so much better without that noise.
  
  Overall, the place is worth a trip or two to eat their cakes. I just wish they changed the look of the place a little, added more light and were more welcoming to their customers.

  We made a quick stop here one evening for their Tiramisu. They tasted fantastic and very much homemade. The space inside was a little cramped with tables and chairs. The waitstaff were super friendly.
  
  High points for the dessert, low points for seating area and ambience.

  This an enchanting spot hidden in downtown Silver Spring. Great for coffee, dessert, and conversation. It is definitely worth checking out - everyone there is very friendly.
